Thailand is a great country for vacation and travel holidays. It is popular with people from all across the globe. From backpackers to family vacations, this country always makes the top of the list when it comes to beach holidays. Although tourism is down, Thailand is a still a great place to visit.

There are several very popular spots in Thailand to choose from when booking your travel. Depending on what kind of holiday you are looking for, you can most certainly find what you are looking for. Some of the most popular types of holiday’s are the tropical beach vacation, visiting the mountains and hill tribes of the northern country, and wild and fun nightlife adventure.

For a beach vacation it is probably best to look at some of the islands like Phuket and Koh Samui. These are the most popular destinations and offer world class luxury resorts, or cheap guest houses depending on your budget. They have great SCUBA diving, beautiful beaches, and plenty of night life to keep you entertained should you so choose. If you are looking for something a little more secluded you should look towards places like Krabi, Koh Phangen, or Phi Phi Island.

If you want to visit the mountains and spend some time with the famous hill tribes then head north by plane to Chiang Mai. This city is rich in history as well as tradition. You can usually arrange a ride up to the mountains to visit with the hill tribes for a day. Though they still remain true to their cultural roots, tourism brings some nice money to the village and they realize this. It is not recommenced to go up to the village on your own though.

If you are not in the mood for either of these, don’t forget that Bangkok Thailand is one cosmopolitan city. Nice hotels, great dining and restaurants, and some super nightlife to keep you entertained. Oh and don’t forget about the shopping, you can find any major name brand here.

So if Thailand isn’t on the short list of next vacation spots, you need to put it there. It has adventures as diverse as their culture.

In my experience, traveling around Thailand can be exciting, fun and educational all at the same time. Add amazing Thai food and you have the best vacation ever! The people of Thailand really make traveling in their country enjoyable. Thais are known for their smiles, friendliness and hospitality. In fact, I met several travelers that after spending their vacation in Thailand decided to remain. It was definitely a tempting thought that I can saw often crossed my mind.

Another South East Asian country that is fun to explore is Cambodia. I was a bit trepidatious about traveling there only because I didn’t know much about it beforehand. As it turns out it was my second favorite country to Thailand. Once again the people were incredibly friendly and welcoming. It is obvious that many of the towns and communities are catering to tourists and hopefully in the future that won’t take away from travelers getting to know the real Cambodia. Cambodia still has a ways to go before they catch up with some of the conveniences and luxuries that Thailand offers but perhaps that is part of the charm.

While I loved Thailand and enjoyed traveling around Cambodia, I think I was most surprised by Vietnam. I expected Vietnam to be much like Cambodia and really the southern part of the country is quite similar. However, once you start to head north, the differences become less subtle and Vietnam becomes more developed. I wasn’t really expecting the beauty of the country either. Perhaps this was ignorance on my part because any search online of Halong Bay results in amazing photos and picturesque scenes. Vietnam is also making the effort to be more welcoming for tourists. Roads are being paved and buses are kept to a higher standard than in Cambodia. It would be difficult to choose one of these countries as my most recommended of South East Asia because each is unique.
